What does “Negative balance at kickoff = no points” mean?
In Kickbase, your team budget must be positive before a gameweek officially starts.
The kickoff time in the app marks the official start of the gameweek. This moment can be slightly different from the real MLS match kickoff time.
If your balance is negative at that moment, you will not receive any points for that entire gameweek, even if your players perform well in real MLS games.
How it works
Shortly before the gameweek begins, Kickbase locks all lineups and checks every manager’s balance.
If your balance is zero or above at that moment, your lineup will be active and you will earn points from the players in your lineup.
If your balance is below zero, you will receive zero points for the entire matchweek.
League admins have the option to unlock points for a manager who was over budget. This must happen before the final points calculation, which usually takes place around 6 PM EST during the gameweek.
Once the gameweek has officially started, your lineup is locked for the remaining matches of that gameweek. Any lineup changes you make after kickoff will only apply to the next gameweek.
Also make sure your lineup is complete. Depending on your league settings, you must field either 6 or 11 players. For every empty position in your lineup, 100 points will be deducted from your gameweek score.
